Career

She was a member of CBC Television's Tabloid, a current affairs program with a light entertainment manner, in the 1950s.

Controversy arose in the run-up to the visit of Queen Elizabeth II when CBC's Davidson, while being interviewed by Dave Garroway on NBC's Today show on 18 June 1959, said that "like most Canadians, I am indifferent to the visit of the Queen."[3][4] Davidson was lambasted in the Canadian press and by many indignant Canadians for her comment. Within a few days, she resigned from CBC's Tabloid series.[5] A subsequent Gallup poll showed that 64% of Canadians disagreed with her, although 48% of respondents considered themselves significantly interested in the royal visit.[2]

She was later featured on PM East/PM West with Mike Wallace and Terrence O'Flaherty (1961–1962).

In the early 1980s, she hosted "The Joyce Davidson Show", a Canadian talk show on CTV, a Canadian TV network

Personal life

Davidson had two daughters by age 20.[6] Her second marriage was to American producer and talk-show host David Susskind in 1966 which ended with a divorce in 1986.[1][7]
